How to choose the drill bit of rotary drilling rig

The selection of rotary drilling rig bits is mainly based on three aspects: stratum conditions; drilling rig functions; hole depth, hole diameter, ballast thickness, wall protection measures, etc. Common rotary drilling bits include auger bits, rotary drilling buckets, cartridge core bits, bottom-expanding bits, impact bits, punching-grabbing cone bits and hydraulic grabs.

Since the ground conditions are ever-changing, the object of rotary drilling rig work is particularly complex, and the corresponding drill bit should be selected according to different geological conditions, mainly in the following categories:

1.clay: use the commonly used straight-tooth conical bucket drill bucket, which is fast in drilling and easy and convenient in unloading soil;

2.Sludge, weak cohesive soil layer, sandy soil, poorly cemented pebble layer with small particle size: equipped with a double bottom drill bucket with spiral teeth;

3.Hard cement: use single soil inlet (single and double bottom can be used) rotary drilling bucket, or bucket tooth straight screw;

4.Frozen soil: Use straight screw bucket with bucket teeth and rotary auger bucket for low ice content, and conical auger bit for high ice content. It should be noted that the auger bit is effective for all soil layers (except silt), but it must be used in the absence of groundwater and stable stratum to avoid jamming due to suction;

5. cemented gravel and strongly weathered rocks: need to be equipped with conical auger bit and double bottom rotary drilling bucket (particle size with a single mouth, small particle size with two mouths), with alloy bucket teeth (bullet) effect is better;

6.Medium-weathered bedrock: in accordance with the sequence of processes, it can be successively equipped with truncated cylindrical coring bit → conical auger bit → double-bottom rotary drilling bucket; Or truncated straight auger bit → double bottom rotary drilling bucket;

7.Slightly weathered bedrock: According to the sequence of the process, it is equipped with roller cone core bit → conical auger bit → double bottom rotary drilling bucket. If the diameter is too large, a graded drilling process must also be adopted.

 

The selection of drill bits for rotary drilling rigs is not only based on geological conditions, but also needs to be combined with the needs of the construction and the construction environment.
